GENERAL

It has been a weird and stressful week; first the car broke down; it was a recall we had on the car but hadn’t made arrangements to get it fixed.  When the part failed, it could have caused a rollover, and possibly a death.  Got that fixed.

Then someone somehow got into my SS credit card and stole $161.00, leaving us almost broke.  Still haven’t got that straightened out.

On the good side, my son had a face to face interview at GE; so hope it all works out for him since ComAir went out of business here in Cincinnati.

Another good thing, my hubby finally got a REAL job; not like the one he had, which was “I’ll call you if I need you” kind of thing.  This is a 40 hour a week fulltime job.  He will probably get laid off for a couple of months in the winter, but will get called back in the spring.  Great for us.

Guess that’s about all the news for now; more later.

GENERAL

Had to put the car in the shop today; the lower rear end stabilizer arms had rusted through; there is actually a recall so won’t cost anything; could have caused a bad accident.  Had to borrow my son’s Blazer so we wouldn’t be stranded.

On a better note, beautiful weather today, 76 degrees; got to spend some time outside; probably won’t be many more warm days like this in the near future.  I’m pretty sure that winter is not too far in the future; Brrr!!  Hate cold weather; I had enough of that when I grew up in Minnesota.

I’m hoping it won’t be too bad a winter; I’m already looking forward to Spring.

PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES

Did all you people planning on voting watch the debates.  I did, even though I had already made up my mind, and actually mailed my ballot in, I still wanted to hear what each candidate had to say.  I have to say I was kind of disappointed, because I didn’t really learn what each candidate’s plans were to take the country forward.

Not enough detail in their planned agenda and policies I didn’t think.  I plan on watch the rest of the debates, and hope to learn more about policies, and how they plan to make the country stronger again.  I guess we’ll see what happens next time.

Could be a whole different debate next time.

RANDOM

Just a few random thoughts today.  Last Friday my son lost his job after about 15 years; he was a mechanic for ComAir and they closed their hub in Cincinnati.  I was concerned when I heard about it around a month ago, however, he already started another job this week.

I am so thankful for him that he found another job so quickly, even though he had to take quite a cut in pay.  On the plus side, he is now 10 min. from work and before it was 45 min. one way.  As hard as jobs are to find these days, I am thankful that he has a trade.  He will continue to look for better employment but at least he isn’t among the many unemployed.

On a brighter note, our Cincinnati Reds have won their division in MLB and have also secured home field advantage.  It would be wild if they won the whole thing; I think they definitely have the talent.

Our Cincinnati Bengals are also starting off pretty well this year; 3-1; Who-Dey!!  They have a lot of good young talent and think they are a team on the rise.

Don’t know abo…

Don’t know about everyone else but I’m tired of all the political commercials; can’t get away from them on TV, even on my computer; be glad when the elections are over.

Gonna watch the debates even though I’m almost positive who I’m voting for.  Everyone should make an informed decision instead of just blindly voting; just my opinion.

I feel everyone who is planning on voting should watch the debates instead of just blindly voting for one candidate or the other.  Remember, whoever gets in, it will be 4 years til voting again.

Sad day today f…

Sad day today for a friend of ours; his 23 year old son passed away from a massive heart attack caused by a blood clot; every time something like this happens, it sure hits home how fragile life really is; every night before I close my eyes to go to sleep, I thank God for keeping my friends safe this day and pray that he will keep them safe tomorrow.

We are definitely not promised tomorrow; life can be snatched away in an instant; indeed we are not even promised the next second or minute; so be sure to let your loved ones know how much you love them and how much they mean to you because in the next second, minute, day it could be too late.

It’s a damp, dreary day here in SW Ohio; rain off and on; hate these days that keep me in the house.  Noticed yesterday that the trees are starting to change color; means winter isn’t far off; I am not a fan of winter; it is always a challenge to keep this old farmhouse warm in the winter.  Even though we have new siding and windows, still gets cold with these 9 foot ceilings.

Having grown up in Northern Minnesota, I guess I had enough of the cold winter weather; seems like we had 9 months of winter up there and only about 3 months of summer.  -40 degrees for days at a time; no thanks.  I am hoping we have a mild winter here like we did last year, but have to wait and see.

My family still lives in Minnesota and North Dakota; they’re tougher than I am lol, and I’m the youngest.  Love to up to the cabin for a visit in the summer; beautiful summers up there.  Guess I’ll sign off and go take care of the doggies outside.  Later

My Passions

My baby Mattie

I would have to say one of my main passions in life after my family, is my pets; I have always been an animal lover, ever since I was a kid.  Thankfully I have a husband that puts up with all my “critters”.  My main love is dogs, but I love all kinds of animals; right now we have 11 dogs, a Chinchilla, a Sugar Glider, an Anole, a Fire Belly Toad, a baby Snapping Turtle; also I have three ornamental ponds outside with a total of about 25 goldfish.  Oh, I forgot I also have an African Clawed frog.

My dogs are my kids; four of them live in the house with us; we raise a couple of litters a year; I just love raising puppies.  They are Boston Terrier hybrids; we have Boston/Patterdales, Boston/Jack Russells.  They are just great little dogs and don’t know what I’d do without them.  They keep me young (and busy).

I would be interested in hearing from other animal lovers; let me know what kind of pets you have.  I also have a website called BuckeyeTerriers; shows pictures of a lot of our dogs and puppies.  You should check them out if you have time.

About me

I am a 65 year old retiree from SW Ohio.  I am in the process of starting my own little marketing business.  I am very interested in women’s health; being 65, it is very important to me to keep a close eye on my health.  I do have a few health issues, which thankfully don’t affect my activity level or lifestyle in general whatsoever; however, I do know a lot of women who are battling lots of different health issues, physical, as well as emotional.  I have created a site that offers several products that target women’s health issues.  I feel all aspects of health are important; that’s why I have included in my business several areas; health, exercise, as well as diet.

Since I have dealt with all these issues over my lifetime, I would love to help others who are dealing with the same issues.  I feel that an active lifestyle is a healthy lifestyle; as we age the importance of exercising the mind as well as the body certainly contributes to our overall health.

I have had a serious weight problem in the past, which is now not an issue any longer; I have and am still dealing with diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol issues, which are under control.

Another important thing for us older women is to have a hobby, something we truly enjoy; some of my hobbies are reading, gardening, taking care of my animals, and walking.

It would be great if you would check out my website; maybe you could find something that would improve and enhance your life.
